Three Awards presented to outstanding members at the BEAMA Annual Lunch

21 Oct 2022

BEAMA were yesterday very honoured to be able to recognize some of the outstanding work and achievements of our member’s employees.

Three awards were presented at the BEAMA 2022 Annual Lunch. These were The Young Professional of the Year, the Richard St Clair Award, and the Long Service Award.

The Young Professional of the Year award was shortlisted to Three Nominees who we were proud to all have attend on the day. These were Ricardo Silva of ByteSnap, Luke Williams of Compleo, and Emily Crayston of Eaton.

Ricardo Silva is a firmware engineer and was nominated for his pivotal role in a number of projects for ByteSnap in the EV sector to create a more sustainable future. He has demonstrated a fantastic level of revision control and release practices for the Smart Charger Controller application in the EV Charger.

Luke Williams has risen quickly at Compleo to Head of Operations, carefully managing major accounts, and implementing complex and strategically significant software product to aid in improving the average time to resolve faults in EV chargers by a very impressive 64%.

While these nominations were extremely impressive, the Young Professional of the Year Award was presented to Emily Crayston of Eaton. Emily is a Design Engineer having joined as an intern in 2016 while completing her studies at Northumbria University.

Emily has made a number of very noticeable contributions. She has streamlines multiple processes to make significant savings for Eaton, is the lead engineer on a project developing products in a growing green energy marketplace, and has delivered training on the sensitive topics of inclusion, education, awareness and support among LGBTQ+ employees. Emily continues to displays a strong desire for personal development, having completed a Masters’ Degree in Renewable Energy Systems Technology this year.

Everyone at BEAMA wants to offer a huge congratulations to all those nominated, and to our winner Emily Crayston of Eaton.  It is brilliant to know that these talents are working at our member companies.

The Richard St Clair Award is presented to the BEAMA member who has gone both above and beyond. An outstanding example of a member who gives their all in the work they complete with their company and also as part of the wider BEAMA family. This year our award was presented to John Felgate of Stiebel Eltron.

John chairs two of our product groups (Electric Heating & Hot Water, and Heat Pump) which are frequently competing with one another in the same marketplace, and has been very instrumental in helping to create and manage suitably differentiated campaigns and objectives for both groups while chasing the same goals.

John has always shown true leadership during his tenure as Chairman, offering unwavering support when needed, always “stepping up to the plate” to ensure BEAMA and the Groups’ interests are represented appropriately, while ensuring that they also represent Industry at large . John has always been an enthusiastic advocate of, and excellent ambassador for, the role that BEAMA has in Industry.

And finally, our Long Service Award was won by John Austin of ABB. Unfortunately, John passed away on the 20th of September this year, but we were extremely grateful to his daughter for collecting the award on his behalf.

John was Global Business Director for ABB, and had been in the industry for 51 years, and a staunch supporter of BEAMA and UK manufacturing. His tireless efforts to grow the industry and work together with other BEAMA representatives was commendable and on a level very rarely seen. He was a great asset to ABB and BEAMA, and a deserving winner of the Long Service Award.
