Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive

09 Apr 2014

BEAMA has warmly welcomed the official launch of the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive.  The application process was opened for business at 8am on 9th April https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/domestic-renewable-heat-incentive and calls were immediately being made to the helpline at OFGEM with interest from the public.

Nearly 5 years in development, the domestic scheme is predicted to result in 90,000 new renewable heat systems over the coming two years.  Kelly Butler, BEAMA Marketing Director and a member of DECC’s Renewable Heat Industry Advisory Group said ‘we have worked long and hard with both DECC and OFGEM to shape this vital scheme for the renewable heat industry.  The incentive, coupled with the predicted rise in fossil fuel prices in future years, will result in a significant boost in sales of heat pumps and other technologies.  Right now, BEAMA is preparing the heat metering training package to support the scheme and we expect this to be launched in May 2014’.
