Reducing our Customers’ Carbon Footprint – Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation

Electric heating and heat pump manufacturer Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation have launched a new air-to-water heat pump that will support our customers’ transition to a more sustainable world through innovative propane heat pump technology.

Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation are a leading manufacturer and trusted professional partner providing innovative and sustainable heating and ventilation solutions for residential spaces and light commercial buildings for both new build and retrofit applications.

Reducing the environmental impact of products over their entire life cycle will form a crucial part of ensuring that we can meet net zero targets globally. In 2022, Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation launched System H in the UK, a monobloc air-to-water propane heat pump engineered to offer efficient and reliable heating within new build dwellings while meeting new compliance standards.

System H uses propane (R290) to reduce its environmental impact whilst maximizing thermodynamic performance. Propane is a natural, non-toxic refrigerant which has a low impact on the environment. Since propane does not contribute to the greenhouse effect, it is increasingly being used in heat pumps and it has become the refrigerant of the future as it will not be affected by F-gas regulations.

System H reduces the total expected lifetime emissions of a heating system when compared to fossil fuel systems or traditional heat pump designs, leading to a positive impact on the environment through avoided emissions. Propane has a global warming potential (GWP) of 3, meaning that it has less than 1% of an impact on global warming potential when compared R410A.

Therefore, System H play an important role in the decarbonisation of heat across the UK by helping our customers in their journey to net zero carbon.
